The Advanced Canada Workers Benefit is a refundable tax benefit provided by the Canadian government to individuals and families with low to modest incomes. Its purpose is to provide financial support to workers throughout the year, not just at the time they file their tax returns.
Basically, the ACWB is an advance payment provided under the Canada Worker Benefit programme. It represents 50% of the CWB, distributed to recipients in three equal payments. Two instalments for the 2025 tax year have already been received for taxpayers, and the third is due in January 2026.
If you are one of those who have received such a payment, please know that this payment is administered by the CRA, which has officially disclosed the date of the January 2026 ACWB payment. By reading this, you will be able to find out on which date your payment will be released, and much more.
Overview
The ACWB is received by taxpayers who proactively opt to receive it when filing their tax return. The two payments received so far for tax year 2025 have gone to those who filed their tax return for tax year 2024 on or before April 30, 2025, and also opted in to receive it.
With the third payment, which is scheduled to be released in January 2026, they will receive 50% of their CWB amount. To receive the remaining 50%, they will need to file their tax return for tax year 2025 on or before April 30, 2026. Refer to the table below for an overview:
