Amazon began automatic payments distribution for the customers who were affected by the Prime subscription practices on 12 November 2025. So, many of the customers hoping for the payment can check the full information about the refund here.
Amazon faced a lawsuit involving the Prime subscription, where people couldn’t cancel their membership or were manipulated into a subscription they didn’t want to continue. Amazon has agreed to pay a $2.5 billion settlement, where $1.5 billion will be used to compensate the affected customers, and the rest is a civil penalty.
The settlement offers payments in two groups: the automatic payment group and the Claim process payment. The members will receive the payout for their subscription fees, which is up to $51 in both groups.
When will you receive the Amazon Prime Refund?
Amazon has commenced the payment distribution from 12 November 2025 for the Amazon Prime refund from the $1.5 billion settlement fund. Many of you who have qualified for the automatic refund may have already received the payment.
According to the FTC guidelines, the automatic payment distribution will continue till 24 December 2025, so if you haven’t received it yet, you should wait because it is still being processed for the millions of eligible Amazon Prime members.
Who will receive the automatic Amazon Prime Refund?
According to the settlement guidelines, people who meet the following eligibility conditions will receive the Amazon Prime Refund:
- You are an Amazon Customer in the United States and signed up for an Amazon Prime membership.
- You have signed up for the membership through a challenged enrollment flow ( shipping selection page, the universal Prime decision page, or Prime Video enrollment flow) during the class period 23 June 2019 and 23 June 2025.
- You have not used the Amazon Prime benefits more than three times in a year.
How will you receive your Amazon Prime Refund?
Amazon will process the automatic refund to the eligible customers by 24 December 2025 through PayPal or Venmo. You must accept your refund within 15 days after it is sent to your Venmo or PayPal.
However, if you have ignored or didn’t accept the payment sent to PayPal or Venmo, Amazon will mail you a check to the shipping address listed on the Amazon records or Prime Subscription. You must cash the refund check within 60 days, so be mindful and cash it on time.
What to do if you didn’t receive the automatic Amazon Prime Refund?
If you qualify for the automatic Amazon refund, but you did not receive the payment by 24 December 2025, there is no need to reach out to the FTC or Amazon; you can claim the refund whenever the claim process begins.
According to the FTC guidelines, the claim process will begin in 30 days after the completion of the automatic payment distribution. The settlement administrator will send notice for the settlement with claim process, claim deadlines, and other information by 23 January 2026.
Remember, the customers will come into the claim process payment group when you have used the Amazon Prime benefits more than 10 times in a year. Whenever the claim process has begun, you can follow the steps below to receive the Amazon refund:
- Visit the Amazon Prime Subscriber settlement website at https://www.subscriptionmembershipsettlement.com/
- Next, go to the Submit claim option and enter your class member ID or the other code mentioned in the settlement notice.
- Now, complete the settlement claim form and file it on the settlement website.
When can you expect the claim process payment for the Amazon Prime settlement?
If you have filed the claim form for the Amazon Prime settlement, the administrator will review the claim for your eligibility, and once it is approved, they will process the Prime subscription fees up to $51.
The officials have not stated any timeline for the claim process payment, but you can expect the authority to take at least a month or two to review and process the payment. Hence, if the claim process began last week in January 2026, you can expect the claim process payment by March or April 2026.
