The NSFAS offers accommodation support, travel allowance, living allowance, and many other benefits to help students complete their education. The NSFAS has opened the 2026 application and closed it on 15 November 2025.
The payment schedule for the 2026 allowance has not been revealed yet, but based on the past trends, you can expect the payment dates. The students can expect to receive the allowance up to $17,160 a year or more, depending on the allowance they wish to receive.
What will be the NSFAS TVET Allowance payment dates for 2026?
The NSFAS TVET allowance cycle will run from February to November 2026, since December and January are non-academic months. The official NSFAS statement on 2026 TVET allowance payments has not been released yet; hence, we do not have the definition of payment dates.
Based on the general payment rules of the NSFAS TVET allowance, you can expect the payment in the first week of the payment month. However, sometimes the payment dates can be readjusted due to some reasons, for instance, we saw the September 2025 payment date change.
According to reports, the NSFAS can release the TVET allowance payment schedule for 2026 in February or March 2026. However, based on the past trend, you can expect the payment to process on the following dates:

What will be the NSFAS TVET Allowance payout?
The NSFAS has not updated or released the TVET allowance amount for 2026. The application period for the NSFAS 2026 has ended on 15 November 2025, so if you have applied and are wondering about your payment amount, you can check the expected payout here based on the 2025 amounts:
- Living allowance for a year: Up to R17,160 for non-catered students and R4,264 for non-metro students, or R52,000 for non-catered-metro students.
- Accommodation Allowance: Up to R42,640 per year for Disability Non-metro-catered/ Non-catered Non-metro’ R56633 for Non-Metro, R60273 for Disability Non-Metro, and R65993 for Metro, and R69633 for Disability Metro.
- Personal Care Allowance: Up to R3167 for Disability metro/ Disability Non-metro, Metro/ Non-metro
Where can you check your NSFAS TVET status?
If you wish to check your NSFAC TVET funding and track your funding, you can check your status in the following steps on the myNSFAS portal:
- Go to the myNSFAS portal at https://my.nsfas.org.za/
- Log in to the myNSFAS portal with your email address, password, or your ID number and complete the captcha.
- Next, click the Track Funding Progress or Application Status tab.
- Now, you will see your NSFAS 2026 application status, such as submitted, under review, documents missing, or approved.
The NSFAS warns the students that they never ask for bank account details and personal information to process their payment, and stay safe from suspicious or fraudulent activities.
What should you do if you do not receive the TVET allowance on time?
If you do not receive your NSFAS TVET allowance on the scheduled date, you should take the following actions to inquire about the missing payment:
- You should log in to the NSFAS portal and check whether your bank details are valid and your bank account is active or not.
- You should contact your respective University or TVET colleges and ask about the registration date.
- You can reach out to the NSFAS through toll-free number 08000 67327 or email at [email protected] and ask about your missing payment.
- If you find your banking information invalid, you should update it on the NSAS website or the myNSFAS portal.
