The Canada Child Benefit is a tax-free payment which is received by Canadians to support the cost of raising children. The Canada Revenue Agency has officially released the schedule for 2026, and everyone will receive the payment on time.

This payment is received by eligible Canadians through the payment method they chose in 2025, whether it is direct deposit or paper cheque. If you are a beneficiary of this payment, you are all set to get it as per the schedule in the upcoming.

If you get this benefit via direct deposit, you will get it shortly after the release. In the case of the paper cheque, you may have to wait for 3 to 5 days to receive the payment. 

How much will the CCB payment be in 2026?

The Canada Revenue Agency has disclosed the payment rates for July 2026 to June 2026. The factors which affect the payout amount are adjusted family net income, number of children, child’s age and marital status. 

Until June 2026, the maximum you can get every month is $649 for a child under the age of 16 years. In case of having a child between the ages of 6 and 17, you can expect to get a maximum payment of $547.

In July 2026, the CCB payment will be increased. The CRA will disclose the details about the same, most probably in June 2026. The increase in the monthly payment is expected to be around $20.

Who is eligible to get the CCB payment in 2026?

To get the Canada Child Benefit, it is mandatory that you meet the eligibility requirements. They are:

  • You live with a child who is under the age of 18. The child must be living with one as a full-time parent or according to a shared-custody schedule.
  • You must be the primary carer of the child, i.e., you are responsible for daily care, supervision, needs and activities.
  • You must be a resident of Canada for tax purposes, and you or your spouse must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person.
  • You and your spouse or partner must file a tax return for the most recent year, even if you have no income.

There is no income to get this benefit, but to get the maximum payment, it is mandatory that your AFNI isn’t above $35,000 for the period of July 2025 to June 2026. 

If it is exceeding the threshold, you will get the reduced benefit. The AFNI for the benefit year 2026-27 will be disclosed around mid-2026. To stay updated about it, make sure you keep an eye on the CRA web portal.

What if the 2026 CCB payment is delayed?

After the release of the CCB payment via direct deposit, it is received within a few hours, and paper cheques take 3 to 5 days. If you don’t get your payment within due time, you need to worry. It may be delayed for a particular reason.

Note that the direct deposit is rarely delayed by 72 hours if there is any technical error with the bank account. In case of workload, the paper cheque arrival may be delayed by 10 days, and remote areas may have to wait longer.
